Between the two world wars, Žetale was a branch of the Adriatic Guards which as an association was dealing with the advertisement of the Adriatic sea and the local tourism. At that time, it has been also possible to rent a room for a night in Žetale. We could say that the Tourist association of Žetale is continuing this idea, although it has no direct affiliation to it. The initiative for the establishment of the association was given in the spring this year. It was already obvious from the word of mouth that there is a great interest and wish for work in this association and the preparations for the establishments.

The founding meeting has been on the 24.5.2001. At this meeting the membership statement has been signed by 24 members. We confirmed the statutes and elected the leaders. For board members have been elected: Darinka Kodrič, Franci Plajnšek, Milenka Butolen (vice president), Alenka Korez (secretary), Janko Gajser, Anton Hohnec, Stanko Skledar (chairman), Bernarda Kolar in Jože Krivec. For members of the supervisory board: Metka Butolen, Marjan Skok, Franc Cep. For members of the disciplinary tribunal: Silvo Potočnik, Marija Železnik, Franc Gajšek. We have decided that we would like to do something in and for the region. Immediately the idea for decorating the primary school was born. We have decorated it with 90 boxes of surfinias flowers with the wish to make more beautiful the center of our village.
With the sponsorship and the unbelievable enthusiasm of some individuals we have satisfactorily carried out this initiative, although not without problems and efforts. Apparently barriers exist for the purpose of being coped with and this is exactly what we do in the Tourist association. The second initiative, which was somehow connected with the first one, was the installation of the tourist hayrack. On it we have hung a bulletin board which has served to advertise the sponsors. In the future, however, it would serve for the indication of tourist spots in our community. Many locals and people from the surrounding area have cooperated in the execution of both projects. They are far too many to be named, however, here is a big thank you for each of them. A special comission has rated the decoration of the facades, yards and the general look of the houses in our municipality. The most diligent will receive awards at the municipality’s holiday.
