Ethnological collection
Apparently, he liked the proximity of pine forests, vineyards and major roads, Ptuj-Rogatec which has not caused him any problems while travelling. Written sources mention that the house was later on owned by a family from Ptuj. In 1903 it was bought by the “Blessed” family (the Horvats) as an inheritance for their child. Nowadays they are direct neighbours of the house. The last owner of the house has been Antonia Horvat who by accident has become a widow and have also lost her only one son. Antonia then married Leopold (Poldekom) Vuk who was disabled but also a craftman. He has manufactured wooden hayforks and rakes as well as other parts of farmers’ wooden tools. “Tončka” has later died. “Poldek” alone could not take care of himself, that is why the municipality has sent him in a home for the elderly. Consequently, the municipality has obtained the house with the little adjoining land. In 2005 municipality Žetale started with the renovation of the house and on 4.10.2007 gave it to the Tourist association of Žetale to manage it. The association has later on additionally equiped the house with objects from the surroundings which can be nowadays found in the few preserved farms being a tresure of cultural herritage Haloze.
Vuk’s homestead is a small house with a richly decorated interior, original bread oven and straw covered roof or thatched roof. The house is small even for the Haloze standards, though picturesque, beautiful, architecturally sophisticated, “planned” in the back of the hill in direction of east-west, with balcony across the whole front part of the house. It has two rooms: a hall or an entrance with lojpa s kuriščem, a big “house” with wood burning stone, a bed, a table and a wardrobe as well as the rest of the furniture. The small six windows give adequate light and protects against the annoying cold winter. There is a stone built cellar in the lower part of the house which will be equipped in the future. Among the equipment in the upper part of the house only the cutlery is original, the rest of the furniture was brought from the surroundings.
